What is ACP?

The Pittsburgh Tri-State Chapter of the Association of Contingency Planners/ACP is a non-profit trade association, comprised of business continuity and disaster recovery professionals from Western Pennsylvania and the Eastern portion of Ohio, and Northern West Virginia. This organization was chartered in January of 2006, to provide business continuity professionals in the area the opportunity to network with business continuity and disaster recovery experts and to provide a venue for continued education. Members of the Pittsburgh Tri-State Chapter are business continuity professionals representing a wide range of industries including fi nancial, insurance, telecommunications, healthcare, technology and disaster recovery services.

ACP Organizational History

The Association of Contingency Planners began as an informal organization in March 1983. In 1984 the group formally organized as a non-profit association for professionals. Articles of Incorporation were approved by the State of California in 1986. A ten member board of directors guides the international association.

As of October 2008, the Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) has 45 local chapters in 23 states, including the District of Columbia plus 3 international
chapters.

Objectives of Pittsburgh Tri-State Chapter

To provide an organized forum, enabling its members to discuss and investigate the spectrum of organization, management and technical issues relative to contingency planning, disaster recovery, crisis management, emergency management and/or business resumption planning.

To accumulate, exchange and disseminate information, share experiences of mutual interest or value, and advance the effective usage of contingency planning, disaster recover, crisis management, emergency management and/or business resumptions planning. 

And, in compliance with ACP Corporate Board Policies and Bylaws, to provide information gathering and exchange services to remote and/or isolated communities pursuant to membership requirements.
